| A leading manufacturer of steel components in France
has been astounded by the outcome of trials of Plascoat's thermoplastic
coating, PPA 571 on their steel panels and ramps used for skateboard and
bicycle parks.
The results follow successful trials at a skateboard park in
Thonon les Bains in the Rhone Alps region of France, close to the Swiss
border.
The manufacturer was initially unconvinced that the coated ramps,
previously finished in stainless steel, would be able to withstand the
extreme abrasion, impact and graffiti that skateboard parks continually
suffer from.
After 12 months of trials however, the Technical Manager was
staggered by the results. "We are very impressed by the performance of
PPA 571, not only has it provided excellent protection against abrasion
and corrosion, the skaters loved it too because of its soft feel and
excellent surface properties for smooth, fast skating".
However, one of the most persistent problems in these environments is
graffiti. Skateboard parks provide a prime target for budding young
artists. The Technical Manager continued " after cleaning the graffiti
from the ramps, the coated finish was in excellent condition".
PPA 571 is available for both fluidised bed and electrostatic
spraying.
