GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Plascoat PPA 567 is a polyolefin based alloy designed for long term resistance to water and UV light. It can be applied by a variety of techniques to give a highly decorative and protective coating. Plascoat PPA 567 offers excellent resistance to environmental stress cracking.
This coating powder offers a cost effective solution to the corrosion protection of "portable" items which will be exposed to outdoor weather conditions. PPA 567 has no adhesion to metal and so it is unsuitable for fixed architectural and construction items. For this kind of application, we recommend Plascoat PPA 571.

TYPICAL USES
Garden furniture, lawnmower Handles
Wirework: Garden wirework, outdoor display racks
GUIDE TO TYPICAL COATING CONDITIONS
Recommended Pretreatment: For mild steel, ensure metal is clean by thorough degreasing and removal of mill scale. To get the full benefits of the material, the metal can be blast cleaned to Swedish standard SA 2½-3.
Batch Operation: Metal preheat temperature 280°C-400°C, depending on metal thickness. Dip for 5-20 seconds. A cure cycle may be required to develop fully the surface finish on thin items. Water quench optional.
Automatic Coating Plant: Pre-heat oven 320°C for 2 to 4 minutes Dip 3 - 5 secs Post-heat oven 190°C for 2 to 4 minutes Water Quench Optional
Spray Application: May be sprayed onto pre-heated item using a gun with 6mm orifice.
Plascoat PPA 567 can be supplied in a wide variety of colours. Certain pigments are more light stable than others. IT IS IMPORTANT THAT, FOR OUTSIDE APPLICATIONS THE STABILITY OF THE REQUIRED COLOUR IS CHECKED WITH PLASCOAT PRIOR TO USE.

STORAGE
Stored in a clean dry area at 10-30°C and out of sunlight, the material should not deteriorate. However, in the interest of good housekeeping, old stocks should be used first.
HEALTH AND SAFETY Plascoat PPA 567 is supplied as a finely divided powder. Whilst there are no known health hazards associated with PPA 567, normal handling precautions for dealing with fine organic powders should be taken - i.e. excessive dust generation and inhaling of the powder should be avoided. Facilities may be required for removing excess dust from the working area during the coating of certain difficult items. As with all polymeric powders, the material can ignite if brought into contact with a high temperature source or ignition - particularly in the fluidised condition. Reference should be made to Plascoat Health and Safety Data Sheet HS 502, available on request. Should the coating be required for contact with food or potable water, further details should be obtained from Plascoat. |
