TALISMAN 20

Performance Polymer Alloy Coating

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Plascoat Talisman 20 is a high performance copolymer coating powder designed to provide a hard abrasion resistant coating with good adhesion. It is based on any alloy of functionalised polyolefins, therefore it is halogen free and the combustion fumes are low in smoke and have a low toxicity level.

TYPICAL USES

File hangers, clips, hooks and similar items.

GUIDE TO TYPICAL COATING CONDITIONS

Recommended Pretreatment:

Ensure that the metal is clean by thorough degreasing andremoval of rust and mill scale.

To get the full benefits of the material, the metal can be blast cleaned to Swedish standard SA 2½-3.

Batch Operation:

Metal preheat temperature 280°C - 380°C, depending on metalthickness. Dip for 3-8 seconds. A postheat cycle at 170°C may be required to develop fully the surface finish on thin wires.

Water quenching should take place shortly (30-90 secs) after all parts have flowed out to a smooth coating. Quenching too soon may lead to pull-back on sharp edges, but delays in quenching will lead to less ductile and less glossy coatings.

HEALTH AND SAFETY

Plascoat Talisman 20 is supplied as a finely divided powder. Whilst there are no known health hazards associated with Talisman 20, normal handling precautions for dealing with fine organic powders should be taken - i.e. excessive dust generation and inhaling of the powder should be avoided. Facilities may be required for removing excess dust from the working area during the coating of more difficult items.

As with all polymeric powders, the material can ignite if brought into contact with a high temperature source or ignition - particularly in the fluidised condition.

Reference should be made to Plascoat Health and Safety Data Sheet HS508, available on request.

Should the coating be required for contact with food or potable water, further details should be obtained from Plascoat.
