PLASCOAT TALISMAN 30 ES
Performance Polymer Alloy Coating
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Plascoat Talisman 30 ES has been developed to provide a long lasting, hard, tough coating for mild steel and aluminium through electrostatic spraying. It is based on an alloy of polyolefins. Therefore it is halogen free and the combustion fumes are low in smoke.
The coating is the hardest in our range. As such it has excellent scruff and abrasion resistance. The coating has excellent adhesion to metal
[Note: Talisman 30ES is not specifically UV stabilised. For long term outside use please consider using Plascoat PPA 571ES or contact Plascoat for further details.]

GUIDE TO TYPICAL COATING CONDITIONS
Recommended Pretreatment: For mild steel, ensure metal is clean by thorough degreasing and removal of mill scale. To get the full benefits of the material, the metal can also be blast cleaned to Swedish standard SA 2½-3 or phosphated.
Aluminium should be degreased to remove
lubricants and processing soaps.
For most purposes no further treatment is necessary. However for maximum long
term corrosion resistance chromate treatment is
recommended.
Coating Conditions:
When the powder is
applied using a Corona Discharge gun a negative polarity is required. A voltage of 30-50 kV is recommended. The post heating schedule should be
180-220°C for 5-40 mins depending on metal
thickness. Talisman 30 ES is a
thermoplastic and therefore no cross- linking will take place. Once the powder is melted to a smooth
coating no further heating is required.
Overheating can cause
the coating to drip or run or cause discolouration
in service. Thicknesses outside the
recommended range may be detrimental to the properties of the coating.
HEALTH AND SAFETY
Plascoat Talisman 30 ES is supplied as a finely divided powder. Whilst there are no known health hazards associated with Talisman 30 ES, normal handling precautions for dealing with fine organic powders should be taken - i.e. excessive dust generation and inhaling of the powder should be avoided. Facilities may be required for removing excess dust from the working area during the coating of more difficult items.
As with all polymeric powders, the material can ignite if brought into contact with a high temperature source or ignition - particularly in the fluidised condition.
Reference should be made to Plascoat Health and Safety Data Sheet HS508, available on request. |

STORAGE
Stored in a clean dry area at 10-25°C and out of sunlight, the material should not deteriorate. However, in the interest of good housekeeping, old stocks should be used first. |
TYPICAL PROPERTIES OF THE COATING
