A GUIDE TO ACHIEVE BEST RESULTS FROM PLASCOAT NG30

Plascoat NG30 is a unique coating powder and its benefits can best be enjoyed if the following procedures are followed:

• Lower powder consumption - 10-15% reduced pick-up
• Energy saving - 15-20% lower oven temperatures
• Higher capacity - 20-25% shorter cycle times
• Less rejects and better quality - Excellent flow-out, no pinholes and good edge coverage

A) Blower Size

Plascoat would recommend a Secomac H.V. Centrifugal fan blower 492/1 for a typical Fluidaire tank of size 910mm x 1700mm x 840 mm (Fluidaire tank 550)

B) Earthing

The top and bottom of the fluidising tank should be well earthed to a fixed earthing point.
PVC hoses from the blower to the fluidising tank should be avoided. A wire re-enforced blower hose will minimise any build-up of static and help to discharge any static that is generated.

A poorly earthed system will reduce fluidisation of the material and can produce excessive dust above the tank.

C) Filter Papers/Fluidisation

If filter papers are used as the fluidising media, Plascoat recommend:

• 4-7 sheets of paper
• Grammage - 280 g/cm2
• Air resistance 3000 Pa (per sheet)
• Seal with closed-cell sealant to minimise air pressure loss

If other fluidising media are used (such as fibre or sintered plastic) the edges should be sealed with aluminium tape.
Metal supporting structures for the fluidising media should be as small and rounded as practical so as not to interfere with the airflow.

D) Other

The blower air must be clean - ideally sourced from the outside. Welding dust can block the filter medium and reduce fluidisation.
Ensure the fluidised bed is flat by the use of a spirit level.
