Plascoat PPAs for Internal Corrosion Resistant Fire Extinguisher Lining

All Plascoat Fire Extinguisher grades meet the requirements of EN3, the European standard for water-filled fire extinguishers.

Plascoat PPA 665

PPA 665 is a polyolefin-based alloy with excellent resistance to aqueous environments, including the foaming agent AFFF. It has been manufactured for over 20 years and is currently supplied to all the major fire extinguisher manufacturers and commonly accepted as the standard in Europe.

It is applied by the rotational lining process using the Falcon 24. When correctly applied the coating gives excellent adhesion without the need for a separate priming coat. However phosphating the inside of the cylinder will enhance the long-term corrosion resistance. A minimum preheat metal temperature of 280-300șC is required for optimal adhesion.

Providing the coating has cured completely, it will not be affected by the subsequent process of external cylinder coating using conventional thermosetting powders.

Plascoat PPA 571 and PPA 571ES

Plascoat PPA 571 has excellent resistance to water and to AFFF and will provide long term corrosion protection to clean metal without the need of a primer.
Plascoat PPA 571ES can be used for the coating of both the inside and outside of the cylinder by electrostatic or flock spraying and can be processed over a wide temperature "window". It flows well into difficult welds and gives a very attractive finish. Coating thickness can be lower than with PPA 665 and PPA 665 HF.
Plascoat PPA 571 and 571ES are more expensive than the 600 series PPAs but are ideal in highly corrosive environments (e.g. marine, offshore).

Plascoat PPA 665XL

PPA 665XL has been specifically designed for application by the electrostatic spray process on new spray-lining machines or by standard spin coating in a double-headed spin coater. It produces a smooth pinhole-free coating with excellent coverage at lower coating thickness.
